Compositing for Visual FX with Chris van Dyck & Lindsay Adams
Want to know more about compositing for the latest blockbuster movies?
Chris van Dyck and Lindsay Adams are here to share their experiences in the industry, take some of the mystery out of special FX and explain to you what a career in compositing is all about. Chris and Lindsay worked together at Animal Logic in 2006. Both of them have work currently showing at the box office.
Each will offer their unique take on working in digital FX, viewed both from inside a world-leading studio and a freelance perspective. What are the benefits of working for hire? How do you direct a full special FX team maintain a cohesive vision?
While the presentation will focus largely on the portfolios of Chris and Linday, technical aspects of the presentation will include the use of Shake and other compositing software.
BIOGRAPHY

Chris van Dyck
Freelance Digital Compositor
Chris is a local freelancer who's resume dates back to 2003. In less that 4 years, Chris has amassed an impressive portfolio of work as a compositor, including such recent hits as Blades of Glory, Night at the Museum and Frank Miller's: 300. An AI graduate, his experience is relevant to the transition from being student to a professional working out of Vancouver.

Lindsay Adams
Senior Digital Compositor, Animal Logic
Lindsay specialises in visual effects and digital compositing for feature films. He has worked on films such as House of Flying Daggers, Stealth, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Oliver Stone's World Trade Center, Happy Feet and 300. He is currently the Craft Lead of Compositing at Animal Logic and is responsible for the company's compositing best practice, implementation of new tools, ideas, workflows and leading compositing sequences on film projects.
